MANGO COLLABORATES WITH FOUR DESIGNERS DURING SALONE DEL MOBILE IN MILAN
Barcelona, 13 April 2018.– Design has always been part of MANGO’s DNA. This season, the fashion brand is collaborating with Italian designers Zaven Studio, Chiara Andreatti, Lucia Massari and Giorgia Zanellato, showcasing their creations during the celebration of Salone del Mobile in Milan. MANGO has selected these emerging talents for this project, for their innovative designs, and their passion for craft, whether it is in the inspiration of the piece, the materials used, or the production process.
The temporary exposition will be available from 14 April to 1 May, in the window displays of the MANGO flagship store in Milan’s Corso Vitorio Emanuele.
Zaven Studio, based in Venice, was founded in 2006 by Enrica Cavarzan and Marco Zavagno. This multidisciplinary creative studio focuses its research on the interaction between communications, design and art. The creative duo are showcasing their iconic Lola chair (for Atipico), inspired by the shape of a torero hat and made of solid wood, the piece is characterised by its strong legs and a bold and comfortable backrest. In their own words: “Collaborations, such as this one with MANGO, are at the heart of our work. We always look forward to working with new partners, bringing fresh concepts and ideas to life.”
Chiara Andreatti, originally from Venice and based in Milan, studied at the European Institute of Design and attended a Master’s course at Domus Academy. She has worked for several design studios and companies for over 10 years. With her balanced style and passion for superior craftsmanship, Chiara Andreatti created the LOÏE for Gebrüder Thonet Vienna GmbH, a lounge chair with gentle curves that combines comfort with refinement. Chiara said of the collaboration: “I always find it very stimulating to combine different applied arts such as design and fashion; in this specific case, the LOÏE for Gebrüder Thonet Vienna GmbH armchair becomes part of a “visual storytelling” itself through a scenography composed of aesthetic languages such as fashion, photography, drawing and craftsmanship.”
Lucia Massari is a product designer and illustrator, born in Venice, who divides her time between Venice and London. Having completed her studies in product design at the Higher Institute of Architecture in Venice and the Royal College of Art in London, she launched her eponymous studio in 2010. Lucia’s design practice frequently incorporates collaborations with local artisans. For this collaboration, she is showcasing Rudolph’s Cabinet, inspired in Rudolf II, Holy Roman Emperor and Archduke of Austria, who owned the most extensive wonder cabinet of the 17th century. “I have chosen to use an old technique that is disappearing in Venice, which is mirror making. I decided to present this specific design of mine for the project with MANGO, because every time I unwrap this piece it provokes in me the same sense of wonder, so I thought it was perfect to display in their window display.”
Giorgia Zanellato founded the Zanellato/Bortotto Studio with Daniele Bortotto in Treviso, Italy, in 2013, and they have collaborated since then with several Italian and International brands. BIX for B-Line chair is a small armchair with distinctive lines, characterised by a sharp and sinuous groove in the frame which forms two half shells: the seat, soft and inviting, fits against the accentuated and enveloping profile of an ample backrest. “We feel that collaborating with MANGO in this exhibition is a great opportunity and fit, as we share many of the brand’s values, including a passion for design.”
