Lightness, flowers and colour:
Meet Kipling X Frida Kahlo collab.
Fuelled by the passion and power of her female spirit, global bag and accessories brand Kipling is set to release a collection of six bags crafted in collaboration with the artwork of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo – a woman ahead of her time.
The range, finished in sultry black and enlivened with a blaze of bright florals that recall Kahlo’s artistic bravura, is a juxtaposition of dark and light, bringing a real sense of depth to these powerful designs. The florals are printed in an aesthetic style that is made to look embroidered and which features a spectrum of bright blues, fiery oranges and hot pinks along with lush green and dusky pink.
Look closely and you will find a hidden monkey – recalling Kahlo’s pet and the brand’s icon – crawling through the floral designs.
A tag to the side seam features Frida Kahlo’s signature while a unique bright blue monkey charm wears a floral headdress in homage to Kahlo’s trademark look.
The collection includes the lightweight travel tote Art in medium and mini sizes plus the compact Anto backpack. Shoulder bags include the Bina style while the Creativity and Art Pouches add a scaled down clutch-able feel to the range. The small cross-body style, Riri add a versatile, everyday feel. Each bag is signed off with a metallic Kipling roundel in the centre of the bag.
Raised during the Mexican Revolution, Frida Kahlo’s art reflects a complex mix of heritage, nature, emotions, and identity, often exploring gender roles and always challenging the status quo. For her elevated and empowered female energy, Kipling is proud to work with.
